Baby #2 is a few weeks away.

This pregnancy is just flying by. I'm already 34 weeks 5 days. I have all the baby clothes washed up and this time I am cloth diapering from birth. My newborn stash is 5 newborn AIOs, 12 newborn prefolds, 12 infant prefolds, 3 newborn covers, 2 newborn fitteds, 4 small covers, and 10 newborn Alva pockets ( with 8 still in the mail). I am hoping to use disposables as little as possible. Then once the babe is a bit bigger, she/he will be able to fit into my one size stash.

I am getting very excited for the new little one to be here especially since we didn't find out the sex. I am thinking girl, but it could be a boy. This baby definitely moves a lot more than Benjy does and likes to reside in my ribs. It is breach, but that is not a concern since I am having a repeat c-section on March 13.

I'll try to take some pictures if my newborn stash later. For now I will leave you with a picture if Benjy in a cover I made him at 3ish months and what he looks like now.

And also eating an ice cream cone today at lunch.

Dropped the ball yet again

I wanted to blog more, but it seems life gets busy. Christmas was lots of fun. Benjy got his kitchen and absolutely loved it. He also got lots of accessories and is having fun with that. Benjy also got a train set from my dad. He loves it and has been playing with it nonstop.

I am getting farther along in my pregnancy. I am 29 weeks. The baby will be coming a bit early via csection so in about 11 weeks our new little one will be here. In the meantime, I have lots to do to prepare.

Busy few days

The Chief has been having issues with his gallbladder for a while and yesterday finally got it out. It was full of stones so he was glad to have it. Benjy had a sleep over with Grandpa while I slept at a hotel as the Chief spent the night in the hospital as his surgery was late in the day. We live in a small community so our local hospital does not preform surgeries. We have to go A larger city an hour away.

I thought for sure I would have a restful sleep being all by myself having to share the bed with no one but 5 pillows. I slept okay, but it definitely was not at all restful. At least the continental breakfast at the hotel was good and they have decaf brewed. The nice thing is I was able to bck and see The chief around 9 without having to drive too far as the roads were very snow covered.

He got out today and while sore from the surgery is feeling no more gallbladder pain. We are all happy to be home as a family.

Picture updates

A few pictures of my little boy. I am using the blogger app for the iPad so I am not sure what order they will upload in. These pictures were taken over the last few months. He is now 27lbs and 31 inches. He has broad shoulders, short legs, and a long torso like his dad. He wears size 2 shirts, but 12 month pants.

Christmas Ideas

As the Christmas season draws closer, the favourite thing on every kids mind is presents. My son is only 19 months so he doesn't really get the hype of the holidays yet. We saw Santa walking through the mall the other day. Benjy was terrified of him and barely took the candy cane Santa offered him. In our house, we have decided not to celebrate/believe in Santa. Presents are from mommy and daddy, and Christmas is a time for family, friends, and time spent together.

Don't get me wrong, I am very excited to watch Benjy open up his gifts this year. We got him a Kidkraft vintage kitchen, with pots and pans accessories. I still need to pick up some fake food for him to play. I also got him a little cleaning set. We are done for him. For my husband and myself, we really aren't sure what we are doing other than stocking stuffers. I would mind a waffle maker or jewellery, but nothing I really want this year.

We do some traditions every year. As a family we decorate a gingerbread house. We have made some interesting ones over the years with just my husband and I. I also like to make molasses hands and spiced sugar cookies. I have lots of cookie cutters so it is fun to make them in all shorts of different shapes. I will link in future posts some of the recipes I make every year. Also I will attempt to do some crafts with Benjy. I am not sure how far we will get, but we will try.

Number 2 on the way

Life has been very busy lately.  I went back to work last February and Benjy started going to the sitters. It was a little rocky at first, but he loves being there.  He has grown lots and lots and now is 31 inches and 27 lbs.  I got bumped from the school near my house to one an hour and 15 mins away so my daily commute is much longer.  It leads to some very long days.

One very big change in our life is that baby #2 is on its way and is due to makes its arrival mid March.  I will then have have two kids in the age of two for about 2 weeks.  It is going to be quite busy around here.  My pregnancy is going well, although the commute is really tiring me out.

That is all for now. Hopefully I will start blogging a bit more regularly.

Tasty Tuesday- Time saving tips

Now that I have started back to work, getting dinner ready and on the table when I get home quickly is key.

Having certain ingredients prepared ahead  a good idea.  Bell Peppers cut up freeze really well.

Quick and Easy Fajitas
Frozen chicken ( cooked or uncooked) cut into strips
1-2 Bell Peppers cut up
1/2 onion cup up in strips.

Have it all frozen together and dump into a frying pan on low heat.  In about 20 minutes everything should be unfrozen and chicken if  it wasn't cooked, it will be cooked.  Add  Fajita seasoning and dinner is done.

Frozen grated cheese also freezes well.  Frozen cheese isn't great to just eat, but it works great in lasagnas and casseroles.Bricks of cheese also freeze well, but they are very crumbly so again they are only good for use in casseroles.

The crockpot is a very handy tool.  I love being able to throw in a bunch of ingredients in the morning and coming home to a warm yummy smelly meal at night.
