Well back to school. I have a full schedule both semesters. It should be interesting. Today is my last day off. But tomorrow should be an easy day since just the grade 9s are coming in.
Then back to the full grind.

Appointments
So I finally had my first doctors appointment or so I thought. Instead I just saw a nurse who was not as reassuring as I wanted. The appointment started with him asking me why I was there. So he checked my blood work, took my blood pressure, and then told me that since my doctor had not sent me for an "official" PG test, I was not pregnant till he had that result. He claimed that a machine had a to process the urine. I did a urine sample so he could check my urine for protein and then was going to send the rest to the lab to be tested. So I left the appointment pretty disappointed and he told me to see the Nurse Practitioner in 10 days. I made an appointment for Sept 7.
I got a call from him the next day that my urine sample was not refrigerated so I had to go to the lab and do another one. Fun Fun. So I go to the lab, there is a line up and just as I am about to pee myself, I get called to give my sample. I asked the tech how it will be tested. She said with pretty much just a home pregnancy test, it doesn't get run through a machine at all. Arg. That was annoying.
Due to a cancellation, I was able to see the Nurse Practitioner today. It was a much better appointment. I had an hour so I got to ask her all my questions. I mentioned that with PCOS I was concerned so she sent me for a dating/ viability ultrasound which I am waiting to hear from the ultrasound place for an appointment. I am feeling much better and can't wait till I can see my little bean.

Vacation :)
The Chief and I went to Niagara Falls for a day and a half. Next time we go, we want to stay for longer as there is so much to see, but this trip was tacked onto some training the Chief had to do in the GTA. I have been there a few times, but hadn't really done any of the attractions. This was the Chief's first time.
Here are the Canadian Horseshoe Falls |
Our trip down there was long. An 11 hour train ride which was thankfully on time and then a two hour go train ride to Niagara Falls. We got there about 10 minutes after the fireworks that night which was kind of sad, but glad that we were there early than later ( which would have happened if our train had been later).
Me next to the Falls |
We stayed at the Best Western as we had a deal through Niagara Parks.com. It was a nice hotel, although the restaurant downstairs was overpriced. Here are some pictures from our trip.
Here is the Maid of the Mist. This boat goes right up to the base of the falls and you get pretty wet. We went on this, but have no pictures as we didn't want to risk ruining our camera. |
We also did the Journey Beneath the Falls. It was lots of fun and I was excited to do this one since the last time I had gone in the tunnels underneath the falls, I was 6 or 7. |
This is the observation deck from Journey Beneath the Falls. It was cool to see th Falls so closely and the power of the water. |
This is a picture from the Wax Museum |

I Dream of Genie!! |
Me in a Stockade ( My hair was in a bun and I couldn't get it to close, lol) |
Sorry the quality is so terrible, but this is the chair that the world's tallest man sat in. |

As promised
Here is a picture of the blankets I am working on. This will be a nice one. I really like the two colours and think they are pretty neutral looking.
This is the colour of the second one I am working on. I made this one for my friend last year. I am making it the same way. It is a nice light weight blanket perfect for cooler summer days. It is light blue, green, and white.

Feeling a bit more pregnant
Well my face looks like I am a teenager ( mostly along my chin and hair line). My tatas are rather sore and very sensitive to cold( in other words swimming in a pool that is slightly chilly leads to pain).
And the pukiness is around. Not full out running to the bathroom, but definitely having a tummy that stops me short and makes me breath for a bit.
I finally got an appointment with the OBGYN. Sept 23. Considering I have not yet seen a doctor ( other than to get a blood work requisition) I was not too pleased.
Well the Chief who usually is level headed when I am freaking out suggested I call our family doctor's medical group to see if I could see someone early. When I was offered an appointment with the nurse practitioner on Sept 7, I pretty much started crying at this point as this is my first pregnancy and I am nervous. So Aug 24, I have an appointment with a doctor. That will put me about 8- 8 1/2 weeks, as I am not too sure what day I conceived exactly, but mid way between my appointment with my OBGYN.

Looking to the future
Today my MIL and I had a garage sale. I didn't make too much money, but she did pretty well.
As the garage sale was drawing to a close, she went through some of the tubs she had that had baby stuff from when DH was a baby. She showed me some pictures and the sleeper that she took him home from the hospital in ( that was the only time he wore it as he was 9 1/2 lbs when he came home and the sleeper was to 10lbs.) She also showed me a little romper he wore in a picture and some shirts he wore as a kid.
She found a cute little sweater and pants set that my DH also wore. I can't wait till my own child can wear the same clothing. It seems like this pregnancy is going to go very slowly, but that is probably because I am not working yet and don't have much to occupy my days.
I have started to crochet two blankets for the coming baby. One is in a thin yarn and I am using a small stitch so it will take a while to finish, but it is using only one ball of yarn so it is my " travelling" blanket as it is easily transportable. The other one I am making is made of a thicker yarn in cream and green in rows of 3 green, 3 cream. It is not as easy to move, but is in a larger stitch so is quicker to make. I will take a picture and post it later.

It's been a week
So it's been a week since I found out I was expecting. Many different emotions have been going through my mind, from extreme joy, to fear, to panic and all ranges in between. It's crazy to think I have a little bean growing inside of me. It is now about the size of an apple seed, that is so tiny and to know that it will grow into a 7 lb baby is crazy to think.
My symptoms are pretty much sore boobs, a bit of nausea here and there, general stuffiness, and fatigue. I had a small chocolate Iced Capp from Tim.Hort.ons yesterday and that did not sit well, so no more caffeinated coffee, although I have some naturally Car.i.bou. It is a pretty good substitute.
Despite yesterday being a civic holiday, some stores were open and I went to a local one and bought two shirts that although not labeled maternity, were quite stretchy and had a nice shape to them. The best part is that they were only $13 each. I think I will be pretty good in the shirt section, but most of my pants are pretty tight fitting. I am looking into getting one of those Belly bands or making my own if I can find a tutorial online.
