And the Rush is over

The craziness of the last few weeks is done. I got all my marking done, got through 2 different grad ceremonies and am not on vacation.  Well, full vacation for a week, but then I am teaching 3 weeks of summer school which is 3 - 1/2 days a week, so not too bad, and then I am back on vacation till September.  Here is a picture of me at the lake enjoying the sunshine and the first night of summer break.  I am sporting my new glasses which are Tra.nsi.tions.  So glad that I got them.

In other news, I am onto another cycle.  I have a Dr's apt on July 14 and the doctor will be giving my Clomid.  So in the meantime ( as the July 14th will be in the middle of my cycle) we have one last cycle to try naturally.  Either way, fingers crossed that by the end of the summer I will have a BFP.

Here is the picture of the cake I made.  Not the most amazing thing, but I think I did a pretty good job.  It is supposed to be a grad hat.  The lid is a piece of cardboard wrapped in foil and then iced.

Painting

As I have said I get into moods to create different things at different times and really to keep my mind off of TTC.  So last year I started painting a bit.  I am not great at it, but I try.  Here are some of the things I painted yesterday.

I am planning on putting the 3 up together on my wall in my living room for a burst of colour.  ( Don't mind the colour of my couch, it is 70's chic)

Thoughts and Ponderings

My DH and I have mentioned to each other a few times what bad timing our anniversary is.  When we got married, we eloped in town hall and I remember hearing the students at the school next door outside for recess. So June 18, school is still in session and being high school teachers, exam and graduation time.  So no weekend getaways for our anniversary till we are retired.  We are still planning on doing something this Friday, but it will be in the midst of marking. ( Marking= Real Romance).

Keeping up with swimming

Well despite having lots of marking, I am making sure that I am still going swimming every night I can.  My body seems to be responding well to it.  Hopefully once things settle down and I am actually eating healthy food, I will slim down a bit.

A few more items.

I did another burp cloth ( the one with the bumble bees on it) and made a large blanket to go with the matching burp cloth and change pad. I thought it would come in handy when traveling. Having a blanket to lay a baby down in would be good when visiting others houses.

Although I am not PG yet, this is my way of giving myself hope. I am thinking of this as time that I am gaining so I can make little things for my future child. When I get into a crocheting mood again, I plan on making a blanket.

Doing some sewing

I seem to get into moods when it comes to crafting. Sometimes I enjoy painting, other times crocheting and other times sewing. Currently my crafting of choice is sewing. I have lots of fabric in lots of fun colours so my imagination can go wild.

Pictured below is some of what I have been making.

I made a cover for my Iphone so it doesn't get scratched when it is in my purse.

Being inspired from other blogs I follow, I also decided to make some burp cloths/ baby things.

I have two pictures of burp cloths I made. One just has a flannel backing and the other one has a fleece backing.

I am a big one for looking through the remanent bin at the fabric store. I used to do it when I was younger so I had some fabric to play around with and outfit my doll house. I loved finding the fake fur and making my dolls had fur blankets. Well I found this plastic backing in the bin, not too much of it, but enough to make a changing pad. The fabric on the other side is fabric that was given to me and is a cute baby pattern.

Anniversary

In a little less than a week, Mr. O and I will be celebrating 6 years of marriage. Honestly by now I thought we would have at least one child. We had a 3 year plan when we first got married, meaning in 3 years we would start trying. Well that got pushed back once, and then again, and then again. The first time it got pushed back, the timing was just not right. We had just graduated, we had no jobs. The other times, Mr. O was not yet ready, and while I was not overly happy about that at the time, I admit that it was a good thing to wait.

We finally started trying last year shortly before our 5th anniversary. Mr. O was convinced it was going to happen right away, and something inside of me told me that it was going to take a while. Sure enough it is taking a while. Hopefully our 6th year of marriage will bring the one thing we both desperately want-a child.

Trying to not stress

I have been doing really well about not stressing about TTC, except for the week of ovulation, but sometimes it just seems to overwhelming.

Another chance,
another month wasted,
Another day of tears.

I know when if I stress too much, it won't happen, but I don't know how to not think about it. Does anyone have a way to do that?

The metformin seems to be helping my cycles so fingers crossed we caught the eggie this month.

Fun Day

Yesterday at the one of the highschools I work at, we had a fun day. We played some games, but the best part of the day was the non-newtonian fluid ( cornstarch and water). A big tub of it was made up and it was lots of fun. You could run across it, jump on it, but if you stopped moving, you would sink through. Once you sunk through it was hard to get out. So at first I just put my hands in it. It didn't take much to convince me to take off my shoes and run over it and then sink it in. Only downside is that you get covered in a fine layer of cornstarch goo after you are done, but it leaves your skin nice and soft.

So about those games we played. They were fun ( octupus, rock paper scissors tag, baseball, and ultimate frizzbee). All good games, but not if you are not used to running around. Although I have a lot more energy from my swimming 3-4 times a week, I don't necessarily move all those muscles that games such as ultimate frisbee use. My poor rib cage hurts, and moving from a sitting position just aches. I was feeling a bit sore yesterday, but today takes the cake. I didn't go swimming tonight because I felt like I needed a break.

But to end on a positive note, when we played baseball, I was not sure if I was going to be able to make contact with the ball. Not really my strong point. However, I did manage to bunt the ball and got to 1st:) and then through others hitting the ball I got to run home:)

Getting to spend some me time

After a few weeks of lots and lots of things on the go and feeling like I had no time, things have slowed down a bit. Marking is pretty well under control and the craziness of exams has not yet started yet. So today was mine. I did some shopping, got my eyebrows waxed, repainted a frame for mirror so I can hang it in my living room, and organized my photo albums. I had pictures all over the place, but now they look much neater and organized.

In other news though, the bugs are out. I have bites from mosquitos and no-see-ums. Let's just say I have been very itchy and have raised welts all over the place.

Tomorrow will not be so much me time. The lawn looks like a wild flower sanctuary so it needs to be mown. I wouldn't care that much, but all my neighbours have mowed the lawn and mine looks really bad.

Lots of baking

It is the last few weeks of school, so I am wrapping up my food and nutrition class. We made manicotti yesterday, made bannock today, and will be making cupcakes and butter tart squares tomorrow.

The bannock turned out really well. For those not familiar with bannock it is a flat bread made by aboriginal people. It is pretty popular around here with the First Nations people.

It is really easy to make
2 cups Flour
2 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp baking powder
2 pinches of salt.
Enough water to create a dough.

Mix together and form into hand size patties. Take a pan with about 1/2 inch of oil in the bottom, heat and cook the bannock until golden brown and then flip. We another class I made bannock tacos ( they called them Indian Tacos) or with jam or just butter. My class did a great job in creating it today and it was quite yummy.

Tomorrow we are making cupcakes for the graduation and butter tart bars as well. I will post pictures of the finished product of the cupcakes as they will be made into mini graduation hat heads.

Getting Fit Update

So I have been doing pretty good about swimming regularly ( although my diet hasn't been the best). Anyway my husband was looking me at work today and said that he could definitely see my slimming down. Yeah.!! So glad. My clothes are fitting better. So I just need to get better with my eating habits and hopefully even more weight will come off.
